Benefits and Drawbacks
There aren't much drawbacks that come from this type of digital divide as if it were to narrow it would a be a good cause as all these people who were limited in having access to this technological devices can finally use them. However, it links to all the drawbacks from the other two types of digital divides, if people start using technology and get too hooked on to it other factors of their lives could be affected such as health as they may just stay indoors all day on their tablets or laptops not even going out at all or very limited. There are many benefits from this and overall I think the benefits do outweigh the drawbacks this being as the people who are socially affected are finally able to use technological devices which they have been missing out on a lot, for example children who didn't have any access to laptops or internet will now have the ability to achieve at least two grades higher for their GCSE’s. Also girls who were more socially encouraged not to use these will be learning new skills and could gain quite a lot of knowledge as they would be first time users meaning they would want to know more about it therefore actually learning better than people who have had access to it all along. Finally the older generation will find it more easier to relate to the younger generation such as their grandchildren as they will now know how to use devices such as computers and tablets therefore resulting in better family bonding time.
